iCAN Shine Bike Camp June 2024 Boardman-Glenwood Middle School Boardman, OH
iCAN Shine is a nationally recognized and highly successful camp that uses adaptive bicycles, a specialized instructional program and trained staff to enable individuals with a disability to learn to ride a conventional bike. Participants attend one 75 minute session/day for 5 consecutive days. The registration form lists the available session times. The bike camp is open to all individuals with a disability that meet the camp requirements.
Rider Requirements to Particpate:
Minimum age - 8 years by the Camp Start Date
Able to sidestep to both sides
Have a disability
Able to attend camp all 5 days
Able to walk without assistive device
Willing and able to wear a properly fitted helmet
Maximum weight - 220 lbs.
Minimum inseam of 20" (measure from floor while rider is wearing sneakers)

VOLUNTEERS: Spotters are needed to provide encouragement and physical support as riders work towards transitioning to two wheels. No experience is needed. Min. age requirement is 14 years. iCAN Shine also provides an online volunteer overview to new volunteers. High School NHS students earn 2 hours of volunteer time for each session.
