Lecture:  Everything You Wanted to Know about Guardianship but Were Afraid to Ask

Join us as we welcome the Honorable Judge Robert N. Rusu, Jr., who presides over the Mahoning County Probate Court.


Judge Rusu will present the latest information, trends and policies on guardianship and how it affects person with Down syndrome and their families. He will explain his court's role in guardianship issues and detail procedures to follow. Time will be allotted for questions and answers.

High school seniors and college students pursuing post-secondary studies in fields of education or healthcare that will directly benefit persons with Down syndrome are invited to apply for DSAV’s 2020 Academic Scholarships. Previous recipients are not eligible to apply. Download application. Completed applications are due March 2 and may be submitted via office@dsav.org.

7th Annual iCAN Shine Bike Camp

June 15-19, 2020

Boardman Glenwood Middle School

iCAN Shine is a nationally recognized and highly successful camp that uses adaptive bicycles, a specialized instructional program and trained staff to enable individuals with a disability to learn to ride a conventional bike.  Participants attend one 75 minute session/day for 5 consecutive days.  The bike camp is open to all individuals with a disability that meet the camp requirements.

Aaris Therapy is the premier provider of integrated therapy services for children and adolescents.  This is an excellent opportunity for your child to work with master-level therapists to improve social skills and effective communication. Space is very limited and registration is required.

This six week course at the MCCTC Adult Career Center is created for DSAV members who are 15 years old or older. The goal of the program, taught by a professional chef and an assistant, is to teach participants how to create healthy snack and food options, utilize the kitchen safely, discover the benefits of good nutrition and learn basic kitchen and cooking skills. Parents or guardians must remain in a waiting area on the MCCTC property during the course. Participants must disclose food allergies and sign a waiver to participate. Limited space available.  Participants must commit to attending all six classes.
